Roughly 17.5 million cars were sold in the U.S. last year, but few can say they are built purely for driving pleasure. With a low center of gravity, a highly responsive chassis, and communicative steering, the light-weight BRZ is one of those rare sports cars that truly exemplifies the breed.
In keeping BRZ true to its mission of delivering pure driving pleasure, our engineers first attacked the suspension. The addition of new springs and dampers contribute to enhanced steering stability and improved responsiveness for a better connection between the driver and the vehicle. A thicker rear stabilizer bar improves turning performance. To further capitalize on these enhancements, the vehicle’s stability control system was modified to let the driver experience heightened handling performance with the “Sport” setting, which has been recalibrated to the extreme that it was renamed “Track.”
Did you know?
BRZ receives a revised final drive ratio, from 4.1 to 4.3:1, which improves acceleration,
especially in the 50-70 mph range.
The new aluminum-alloy intake manifold on manual transmission models allows for a wider cross section on the intake runners than the plastic design previously used. The exhaust manifold’s branch lengths were shortened and widened while the pipe layout is now more linear, allowing more air flow. Together, these contribute to an additional power bump of 5 hp and 5 lb-ft of torque.
Exterior Styling: Refined
Just one look at the BRZ and your pulse quickens. A more pronounced and aggressive low-slung attitude greets you.
- The aggressive front fascia is modified to accentuate the vehicle’s wide and low stance
- Full-LED headlights with integrated DRLs and rear LED combination lights deliver superior light output while reducing power consumption
- A raised spoiler improves the aerodynamic downforce and stability, and the aluminum construction allows for a thinner cross section, enhancing the design appeal and improving rearward visibility
- Front fender garnishes and 17-inch alloy wheels freshen the profile view
The exciting Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow is coming.
The engineering team’s focus on components to boost driving enjoyment led to key interior changes. The small-diameter steering wheel remains, but now contains convenient switches for audio and other functions. Limited models feature a 4.2-inch LCD integrated into the gauge cluster, which delivers a multi-function trip computer and access to vehicle performance information, including lateral G-force, accelerator pedal position, braking force, steering angle, oil and water temperature, and battery voltage. There’s even an integrated stopwatch, because sometimes bragging rights are critical.
Limited models also receive upgraded finishes to the instrument panel trim, HVAC panel, and window control switches, as well as embroidered seatbacks for that perfect last touch.
